The Arangkada Philippines Policy Discussion on Managing Cross-Border Data Flows was organized in collaboration with the Joint Foreign Chambers of the Philippines, US-ASEAN Business Council, IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines, Asia Cloud Computing Association, and the Asia Internet Coalition – which make up a coalition of regional and local trade associations supporting cross-border data flow and the Philippine government’s efforts to maintain open and enabling policies on data governance and champion the free-flow of data in the region.

International free flow of data or the transfer of data across borders accelerates digital transformation and enables organizations everywhere to grow and compete. This real-time movement of data facilitates the delivery of goods and services, creating new economic and trade opportunities. As the Philippines continues the development of its digital economy and as the country looks to position itself into a digital hub in the region, discussion of policies in relation to cross-border-data flow will increasingly become relevant.

This virtual event focused on regional/global challenges in managing cross-border data flows and corresponding good practices, norms, and foundations to leverage the global flow of data to drive economic development. The event highlighted the benefits of enabling cross-border data flows to support economic growth and competitiveness, to enhance digital trade, and to improve citizens services.
